The Red Bull Racing team announced that it signed a deal with Total. Total, one of the World's largest oil and gas companies, will supply the team with all its fuel and lubricants for engines and gearboxes. "We are delighted to welcome Total to Red Bull Racing," commented Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner. "Total will make a significant contribution to our technical performance. New rules require race engines to last longer than in the past and with the added strain on the work cycle caused by KERS, lubricants can play a vital role in ensuring reliability, not just for the engine, but also for the gearbox. "Working closely with our engine partner, Renault, the right fuels and lubricants can also have a positive effect on power output and fuel consumption."

Oh that's interesting, I thought Elf's monopoly was in the rules, like the single tyre supplier. Evidently they just had a great marketing team.
