The new Lotus looks stunning and reminds me of the JPS days
The renamed Lotus Renault team has revealed the legendary black and gold colour scheme it will run on its cars in 2011.
The Enstone-based squad’s new title sponsorship tie-up with Group Lotus has resulted in the decision to revive the historic livery that became synonymous with the original Lotus team when it was sponsored by John Player Special in the 1970s and 1980s.
And although its new R31 itself isn’t being unveiled until January 31 in Valencia, the team presented its revised livery on its 2010 car on the opening day of the Autosport International Show in Birmingham on Thursday.
The car has gone on display for fans to see during the four-day event which is widely seen as marking the start of the motorsport year.
Former outright owner Renault remains in the Enstone team’s official name, but the French manufacturer has reverted to being an engine supplier only with the team currently owned by Gerard Lopez’s Genii investment company.
