Suprise announcement that the USGP will happen in Austin, Texas in 2012. This is great news! I'm not sure about the funding for this, as a local short track roundy round organization is bringing it on. Huge step up to F1...where is the money coming from? It's supposed to be a completely new track to be built from the ground up at a location undetermined in the Austin area. Who is footing the bill? I do know that Austin is the capitol of live rockin' blues music and is a beautiful location with a hip young community. Rolling hills, active nightlife, and a nice place to visit according to friends who have been there. Need to visit if this actually comes through. www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2010/5/10824.html

Long as it doesnt clash with NASCAR, or F1 won't get any American fans attending lol.

There will be plenty of fans attending. We always had between 100,000 and 200,000 peeps at Indy for the GP. Count me in.
Apparently, this has been in the works for several years. Whoever is investing in this, it sounds like a done deal. Bernie would not rubber stamp this track unless there is a pile of dough involved.
