Embattled Honda Racing could be eligible to take advantage of the £2.3 billion support package for Britain’s ailing car industry announced this week.
The Brackley-based squad is currently fighting for survival following its Japanese manufacturer owner’s shock move to put it up for sale in early December, with the team needing to secure a new owner before March or face closure.
And while discussions with interested parties remaining ongoing, with a Nick Fry-led management buyout reportedly one possibility, the team has confirmed to the Guardian newspaper that it has also had discussions over its future with the Department for Business (BERR), which this week announced a package of measures aimed at freeing up lending of over £2bn to stimulate the car industry amid the financial downturn.
"We have had meetings with BERR over the future of the team on several occasions over the past month," the Guardian quotes a Honda statement as saying.

I can't believe the the UK is following America's terrible lead of pumping money that doesn't exist into an economy that would recover more quickly without government involvement. As an American, I'm embarrased by the fact that my government drove my country into the ditch over the last several years by forcing banks, mortgage companies and other lending institutions to make extremely unwise loans to people undeserving. It's puzzling that Great Britain and other countries would follow suit knowing what a waste of time and money it really is. Chart your own destiny.. for your own sake, please don't follow us into oblivion.
