BERNIE Ecclestone would be prepared to cancel the 2010 British Grand Prix if Donington Park’s revamp is not completed in time. The Formula One supremo has handed the circuit’s dreams of bringing the showpiece event back to North West Leicestershire a major boost. His comments come after he met with Simon Gillett, chief executive of Donington Park Ventures, which has the contract to host the race from next year. Planning and legal bombshells in recent weeks have led to doubts over whether the £100 million revamp will be finished in time. However, Ecclestone has insisted that the race will not return to Silverstone, which hosts the event for what could be the last time on June 21. "If the work at Donington is not finished in time, we would be happy to skip a year," Ecclestone said. "I don’t want to lose the British Grand Prix — that’s the last thing we want to do, but we aren’t going to Silverstone for sure." from - www.burtonmail.co.uk/burtonmail-news/displayarticle.asp?id=416911
