This Oinkychoo is everywhere! from GPupdate.com The rapidly-worsening outbreak of deadly swine flu threatens to affect the world of formula one. Next week, the grand prix circus is scheduled to be preparing for a race at the Circuit de Catalunya, which is located about a half hour from downtown Barcelona. It is reported that, in the whole of Europe, the Catalunya region has the greatest number of suspected swine flu cases. On Monday, the World Health Organisation (WHO) raised their pandemic alert level to 4, in the wake of the spreading infections and nearly 150 deaths in Mexico. As F1 raced in Bahrain on Sunday, schools and public events in Mexico were closed or suspended. It is expected that the raising of the WHO alert could result in governments of the world setting travel restrictions, with spokesman Peter Cordingley admitting that air travel is an easy way for viruses to spread. But WHO assistant director General Keiji Fukuda added: "With the virus being widespread, closing borders or restricting travel really has very little effect in stopping the movement of this virus." fizzy

The A1 race in Mexico has already been cancelled, so the last race of the season will be this weekend at Brands.

Hopefully the the Spanish gp will be good to go, its a different story in mexico, much more wide spread. Things arent looking too good for us at the moment, a recession and now this, what next?
I was hoping to be going to brands this weekend, not too far from me, but no one would come with me lol, no one i know likes motorsport, i feel so deprived.

I'll be there F1diva! Travelling down Friday, out on the town Friday nite, so may not make quali on Saturday, but will be there Sunday, looking forward to it I just hope it doesn't affect any other races, I know caution needs to be taken, it was bad enough during the foot and mouth out break and all UK passengers having to be disinfected when entering another country, better be safe than sorry!

The "world pandemic" thing is a bit overblown. Just avoid trips to Mexico. I'm flying near there tomorrow to Arizona, (but not to Mexico!) and I'm not worried at all. -mark

I doubt they will suspend the GP..I don't see the reason why they should.

I get back from the Caribbean and the world's going mad over the flu? Its ridiculous.
Hopefully they'll see sense and race.
