Getting started is easy
Adding pictures to your message
To post a pic in a post, you'll need to do the following.
First, sign up to a picture hosting site eg Photobucket photobucket.com or ImageShack imageshack.us and upload the picture you want to post
Copy the URL to the image in your post. Highlight it and click on the little picture icon (4th from left above the row of smilies)
That puts in the
around the link, which you can also do manually.
This will display the image in your post.
You can add a pic to your signature in the same way -
go to Profile > Modify Profile and then put
in the signature space
Adding an Avatar to your Profile
Sign in
Click on the Profile tab at the top of the homepage.
Click on Modify Profile
Scroll down to Personal Information
Where it says Avatar, click on the drop down arrow
Click on each avatar name in turn, as you will be able to preview each picture until you find one you want to use
Once you have chosen your Avatar, scroll down to the bottom and click on the Modify Profile button.
If you prefer, you can use an Avatar you have made yourself, a picture of yourself, or a free Avatar you find online. The picture must be no bigger than 100 x 100 pixels. You need to upload it to a site like Imageshack www.imageshack.us/ or Photobucket photobucket.com/ then get the URL of the picture and paste it into where it says Avatar URL
Getting rid of Avatars, Signatures, Images etc
If you prefer low graphics and don't want to see any avatars, signatures etc., you can modify your own profile to hide them.
Click on [Profile] at the top of the screen, then Modify Profile. Scroll down and you will have the options to:-
Adding Hyperlinks
Simplest hyperlink
copy the link, select it, and click on the add url icon (bottom row 3rd from left)
Hyperlink text
[ url=urloflink]your text[ /url]
Also note, links will always open a new window.
adding a YouTube video
copy the link of the YouTube you want to post, highlight it and then click on the Tube icon (bottom row 1st from left)
Making your text bigger
highlight the text you want to make bigger - click on the size icon (top row second from right)
and change the number 2 to bigger number
Getting started is easy
- Register with an email address that you can access, because you will be sent an authentication code, hotmail, yahoo, gmail etc are fine to use.
- Remember your login name and p/w
- Bookmark the site newsgeneral.proboards.com/index.cgi so you can find us again

- *Show Signatures: Yes/No Selecting "No" will make it so that no signatures are displayed to you at the bottom of posts.
- Show Avatars: Yes/No If you do not wish to see the avatars of other users on this forum, select "No."
- Show Images: Yes/No If you wish to disable all images on the forum, select "No." All images will be replaced by a text equivalent, and you will be able to browse the forum faster.
