Just an interesting lil snippet I just came across from the Daily mail. I'd really like to see more of Mike Gascoyne - I thought he was great in China. he really put valid points across unlike EJ who seems to always turn the subject around to talk about himself. Mike Gascoyne is eyeing a regular role as an expert pundit for Britain's television coverage of formula one.
The former Renault, Toyota and Force India technical boss, ousted by the latter team at the end of 2008, substituted in Shanghai for BBC regular Eddie Jordan.
Former team owner and boss Jordan will be back in the role this weekend in Bahrain, but Gascoyne was a hit with both producers and viewers as he sparred with fellow pundit David Coulthard in China.
The Daily Mail quotes Briton Gascoyne, formerly perhaps the highest paid engineer in formula one, as revealing that feedback from his one-off appearance was "brilliant".
The newspaper said Gascoyne, who is also keen to get back into the sport as an engineer, now wants to replace Jordan permanently.
"(He) is making no secret of his ambition to usurp EJ, who will be back for the Bahrain GP," the Daily Mail said.fizzy

I agree, EJ just seems to like disagreeing with Coulthard at every chance he gets. There was a good rapport between Mike and David which gives you more of an insight into the relationships between Engineers and Drivers. Give EJ the boot!!!

Yes- i want to see more of Mike Gascoyne. I get to see the BBC broadcast on justin.tv. I saw Mike in China and was very impressed. He was, always, touted as the "smartest man in f1" and now I believe it! I learned more in one five minute explanation of car dynamics than eddie jordan could say in a year. EJ always seems to be putting DC's thoughts and opinions down- Like he's trying to say, "I was an owner, you're just the driver." Well EJ- you (have) to know so many things in regards to operating an F1 racer and what's going on while it's moving- and that means that the only people on an f1 team to know more than the driver are the mechanics and engineers. I know he won't see this, but I'd like to know one thing from EJ- Why was Minardi consistently better than Jordan while you ran Jordan? Wasn't Minardi considered a good entry-level team? go home, little boy1 We like intelligent talk, opinion, and "expertise' in our pre-race, and race, commentary. some may say I sound a bit snobbish, but I'm not! I have racing games and race online- And anything I can pick up to help me be an "F1WnB" {my racing name} is better than gobble-dee-goop you spew.

If you don't have a way to watch races on TV, go to www.justin.tv to watch live internet telecasts. It's free, and- if he's telecasting- look for "Ferrari-Dragon". He always has HQ- just like cable/satellite, always in English. :-)

I was hoping EJ would calm down after a few races but there still seems to be points where him and coulthard nearly throw down on camera. It's not good viewing. I agree that mike was better, I just think it's a d**n shame that a man with as much experience and knowledge as EJ can't make it work.

It is a shame, as EJ does have a lot of knowledge and experience as you say. Sadly he is so self opinionated which is why he was always fight the FIA and anyone else for that matter. Bring in good old Damon Hill and Mike G, it would make for a better show.
