Fernando Alonso says he leaves Jerez “very happy” with the performance of the R29 after Renault’s new car topped a timesheet for the first time on Wednesday.
The former champion team made a slow start to testing with its 2009 challenger during its initial outings at Portimao and Jerez, with several problems and poor weather only allowing it to show glimpses of the R29's potential.
But after outpacing its rivals on its final appearance at the latest Jerez test, in a time only bettered by two 2009 cars so far this winter despite windy conditions, Alonso took encouragement from the positive signs.
“I’m very happy with the result from this test as we had two trouble-free days, a very consistent car and the work we have done has been very useful,” he said after clocking 1m19.945s.

You are right blacktulip!! but I think it is going to be more than just McL, Ferrari and Renault
Brawn GP is looking pretty good, their car is nice looking and their times I think are more than decent. Ferrari is looking awesome as well..let's see if Kimi shows more motivation this year..for Massa I think he has shown a lot of growth in the last 2 years and I am sure he will be up there as well. McL will continue to work in the rear wing and they should be back on top again in no time Renault...oh my Renault..they look pretty darn good so far..but we can't forget this is just practice. Nobody knows how many gallons they have in their tank when they practice and what different set ups they are testing.so we just have to wait and see. The more teams fighting for both titles the better for us :-) We can't forget about BMW, specially Kubica. I hope they don't make the same mistake they made last year when they won a race and after that they decided to stop working in the 2008 car and focus in the bimmer for 2009.
Like you say, we are for a great season.

We are elcid, but when the lights go green on the29th we will see the covers come off and the real show starts, on present form I could see a Ferrari 1,2 with Renault 3 but still not sure whats happening with McLaren
Still sticking with McLaren as my team and both Massa and Hamilton as my men
