BBC to show F1 practice live

An early schedule for BBC’s F1 coverage posted by Francois shows they will be broadcasting F1 practice sessions live this year.

However it is not yet clear whether the practice session on Saturday will be shown as well as the two on Friday. Last year ITV screened Friday practice live online, but not Saturday’s session before qualifying.



BBC will show practice via the ‘red button’, accessible on digital broadcasts. The schedule also suggests practices may be shown some other way. Here’s what we’ve seen of the schedule:

I remember watching Free Practice in the good old days of german satellite tv, and I used to love it, especially for the first race of the season ;D!

I also remember being somewhat annoying and texting everybody who didn't have RTL ...

Does anybody know if BBC have some preview programme scheduled at all?

Yeah we used to have that too, till we had to get a new digibox. And Sky had good coverage too, they had all of Friday, with the driver arriving at the curcuit. Miss that too, even though it was only for a season or 2.

That is very true, the adds dis spoil ITV coverage, though it did give you time to grao a cup of coffee

Have you seen the advert on BBC for the start of the season, they are calling it the "greatest ever car chase"!

I get so excited when i see that advert, it's so close i can't wait.

The best thing about the ad is where the chain creeps in slightly at the end then the ad finished, f1 bbc, bring it on!

I just saw it tonight..... love The Chain creeping in there, the opening bars of that song as they play it on telly never fails to send shivers up my spine...... dum, da da da da da da da da, dum

Oh you know what I mean!!

As for "greatest ever car chase" Hmmmmm F1 aint a car chase..it a RACE!

Bit of a side note. those in uk on digital, there is a f1 thing on the red button. From what i have seen so far it is the videos from th bbc website.

Just watched practice 1 live on BBC1 via the 'red button! Fantastic coverage plus brill commentary form the 5Live team Now waiting for practice 2................
