Ex-Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan has been awarded an honorary OBE (Order of the British Empire) in recognition of his services to charity and motor racing. Well it's not for his shirts, that's for sure!!

Ok Susie...what does that mean? I am not a big follower of Eddie Jordan.

Not much really!! The Order of the British Empire recognises distinguished service to the arts and sciences, public services outside the Civil Service and work with charitable and welfare organisations of all kinds. The OBE was created during the First World War in 1917 by George V. The King recognised the need for a new award of honour which could be more widely awarded, in recognition of the large numbers of people in the British Isles and other parts of the Empire who were helping the war effort both as combatants and as civilians on the home front. Today the Order of the British Empire is the order of chivalry of British democracy. Valuable service is the only criterion for the award, and the Order is now used to reward service in a wide range of useful activities.
Citizens from other countries may also receive an honorary award, for services rendered to the United Kingdom and its people. There are more than 100,000 living members of the Order throughout the world.

Thanks Susie! OBE sounds like quite an honor to receive. Sounds a lot like our congressional medal of honor.
In other news, and two weeks til the China GP, we have Indy car over here. indycar.com/schedule/
I am happy to see Rubens Barrichello in the Indy series. That puts him in the Indy 500 on 27 May.
The split involving Indy car with the new champ car, really turned me off with American open wheel racing. Now that we are one big happy family again, I will follow the series more closely.
When F1 raced the US GP at Indy, I did not like the track layout at all. Boring infield course, but the fast banked curve was cool. The Austin GP in Novenber will be nice. And next year, the second US GP of 2013 will be in New Jersey, my home. I can not wait to attend my first F1 GP. [/color]

Eddie Jordan is quite a character. I like Eddie Jordan and Damon Hill. They are both off the wall, far out, and unique characters in F1 history.
Leon, they are like John Force in US drag racing. You never know what they are going to say next. I'm sure it will be controversial.

Good on Sir Eddie, he sure deserves it. Indeed Suzi, not for his shirts lol. I kinda miss EJ and DC, what with watching live on sky now.
