Rubens Barrichello in America

This afternoon, I caught the tail end of the IZOD IndyCar Series' season-opening Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in Florida live on ABC.

What a pleasant surprise to find Rubens Barrichello racing in Indy car. He finsihed 17 and said to have enjoyed himself. www.indycar.com/News/2012/March/3-25-Barrichello-enjoys-start.aspx.

The name Barrichello will bring more fans into Indy car. Sure, Montoya is over here in NASCAR, but he did not bring a lot of F1 fans with him.

Castroneves won the Grand Prix.

I thought the new Izod Indy cars looked quite different. They went to a more aero bodywork around the rear end.

It was really cool to see Helio Castroneves win again. He is very popular over here, and a good guy who was shut out last year. He climbed the fence and gave his respect to Dan Wheldon.

Was that kick ass? Gave me goose bumps. They named the street on this circuit Dan Wheldon Way. Good Stuff.

Reubens finished about 16th. Hopefully he will do better when they come to Detroit. I think he is in a mid pack team.
