While Sebastien Buemi continued to set the overall pace in testing at Jerez, at the wheel of his 2008 Toro Rosso, Heikki Kovalainen was the fastest driver at the wheel of a 2009 car as conditions remained dry at Jerez. Buemi covered 143 laps including a race simulation as the team also continued to test slick tyres while Kovalainen was at the wheel of the new McLaren for the second day, although today it was fitted with a modified 2008-spec rear wing, as the team is still waiting for a high-downforce version to be produced in its factory. Mark Webber made his much anticipated return to the williepit for Red Bull and continued to show positive pace from the new RB5 finishing third overall after 83 trouble-free laps. Kazuki Nakajima was back in action for Williams covering 125 laps in the 2009-spec car finishing ahead of Nelson Piquet Jr who again had a difficult day in the Renault covering just 49 laps. Testing continues tomorrow, day three of this four-day multi-team test.
