Michael Schumacher says the improved form that Mercedes showed at Silverstone and the boost he will get from his home crowd could spur him on to a breakthrough performance at the Nurburgring next weekend.
Having fallen away from the leaders in recent months, Mercedes were encouraged by their British Grand Prix performance, as Nico Rosberg finished sixth, and Schumacher recovered from a collision with Kamui Kobayashi and consequent penalty to take ninth.
With Germany the home race for both drivers and the team, Schumacher said the Silverstone uplift could not have come at a better time.
"We saw some improvements over the Silverstone weekend with our new exhaust system, along with improvements to how we work with the tyres, so we go to the next race weekend with a good feeling added to our fighting spirit," he said.
"We definitely want to show our home crowds our best level of performance possible."
He said being on home turf - and at a track with a section named in his honour - would be a big bonus.
